The Dynamic Trio
7:30 am last Saturday morning, El Centro and Hannah Hall were buzzing with activity as we gathered for instructions and lines of immigrant families began to form. Dalia and I were among 61 volunteers that served 559 individuals receiving consular and legal services that day. After receiving instructions on how to fill out the forms, we grabbed a cup of coffee, some pastries, threw on a t-shirt , found an open desk and opened up my laptop to begin filling out POA, Stand-By Guardianship, and Statutory Power of Attorney Forms for the family members who came in. After filling out our first set of forms for a husband and wife, we called on one of the floating notaries in the room and found ourselves happily chatting with Martha, who had come all the way from Oklahoma City to help with the event. We worked together all morning as a team until Martha needed to head back to OKC. It was an exhausting but amazing experience to be able to help many people who have been feeling anxious in the wake of possibly being separated from their family members due to mixed immigration status. Please join us in praying for peace and hope for these families. We felt grateful that we could bring just a little more security to their lives that day.
