What are your immigration legal fees?
We charge a $50 consultation fee up front. Because we are a nonprofit, we are able to charge lower fees than an immigration lawyer. Currently, due to lack of funding, we are not able to offer discounts on our fees. If your family is low income, we will put you on a wait list and try to find you a sponsor if you qualify through proof of income.
If we accept your case, we request that you pay a non-refundable retainer fee up to $300 to start work on your case.
We do offer payment plans for those who cannot pay the full amount up front.
What kind of immigration cases are you unable to take?
We cannot take asylum , work visa, and deportation or removal proceedings cases or if cases are complicated by a criminal background history. We refer these cases out to reputable immigration lawyers in our community. Currently, until we are better staffed, we are putting those with U Visa, T Visa, Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) and VAWA cases on a wait list. Thank you for your understanding.
What languages do you speak?
We speak English, Spanish, Bulgarian and Turkish on our staff. Feel free to bring a family member or friend to interpret for you.
What is a DOJ Accredited Representative?
A Department of Justice Accredited Representative has studied immigration law and has the ability to represent a client before USCIS in certain types of cases. Since we are only partially accredited, we are unable to represent a client before an immigration court and therefore unable to do deportation and asylum cases.
